New Yorker Anthony Famiglietti finished first in the USA Men's 8K Championship this morning with a time of 22:35 with Abdi Abdirahman following close behind with a time of 22:41.
Although the race was changed to an unscored fun run, there was a good showing this morning at the NYRR 8000. Runners reported very icy conditions along the cource. One runner said that there was "solid ice" all along Cat Hill on the East Drive.
The weather was perfect for the 2007 Colon Cancer Challenge 4-Mile and 15K. With 2,693 finishers in the 4-mile race (up 17% from last year's rainy Colon Cancer 4-mile) and 2,388 in the 15K (up 8% from last year), the turn out was very good. Full race results for the 4-mile and 15K have been posted to the NYRR website.
With 37,869 finishers, the 2006 ING New York City Marathon set the new record for largest marathon. This album includes photos of Lance Armstrong approaching Mile 26. Lance's finishing time was 2:59:36, acheiving his goal of finishing the race in under three hours with less than a minute to spare.
